Students will be given an opportunity to connect with classmates, get to know the high school campus, and get the information needed to be successful in high school. Freshman transition is critical to increase the success of students. Research shows that student connection increases academic success while decreasing the number of dropouts.
Students will be offered breakfast upon entering the campus each day, and also enjoy daily lunch service. Prizes will be distributed throughout the three days, especially during the daily Pep Rallies. The final day of the program will feature a barbecue picnic, complete with water balloons and other fun games.
Students are asked to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and leave backpacks and large purses at home.
Parents of the new 9th graders are invited to attend their own high school orientation workshop held on Monday, July 22, either at 8:00 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. in the San Jacinto High Theater. Staff from the SJUSD Parent Center will be sharing resources and information for parents to help their students with the transition from middle school to high school life, as well as talk about possibilities for post-secondary success - college and career ready!
