Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant CTE pathway for San Jacinto High School students offers specialized education and training in the healthcare field. Students learn about medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, patient care procedures, medical office management, and basic clinical skills. They acquire hands-on experience in measuring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with medical examinations, maintaining patient records, and performing administrative tasks in healthcare settings. The program emphasizes professionalism, empathy, communication skills, and cultural competence. Students will have opportunities to participate in externships (7th period class), job shadowing, and clinical rotations at hospitals, clinics, or medical offices. This pathway prepares students for careers as medical assistants, nursing assistants, phlebotomists, medical office assistants, and other entry-level healthcare positions, as well as for further education or training in the healthcare field.
