The Preliminary SAT, also known as the PSAT/NMSQT® (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a prep version of the SAT exam.
If you earn a high score on the PSAT your junior year, you could qualify to receive a National Merit Scholarship! Testing your skills in reading, writing, and math, the PSAT is 2 hours and 45 minutes long. Unlike the SAT, the highest score possible on the PSAT is 1520.
All 9th, 10th and 11th graders will participate in the PSAT, free of charge.
This test will serve, not only as preparation for the SAT taken in senior year, but is also widely used as a major criterion for college admissions, and used to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Competition!
