Reading Intervention ELD (Period 1) Assignments

This is a block scheduled course for periods 1 and 2.  Students in the class will receive five credits of English 1 (A-G approved) and five credits of ELD electives.  Students will be assessed on the Student Reading Inventory and placed at their level in Read 180 or System 44.  They will use the instructional software daily to improve reading, writing, speaking, and listening.  They will build fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and spelling.  Students will also read contemporary novels as a whole class.  In addition to whole class instruction and small group activities, they will have opportunities for reading self selected on level materials.
