Gold Rated Choir
San Jacinto’s Chamber Choir is a 30 member, mixed ensemble for experienced singers, and is SJHS's most advanced ensemble. It involves the rehearsal and performance of a wide repertoire of music ranging from traditional to contemporary. Students will study vocal techniques, and further develop music reading and sight-reading skills. Chamber Choir is an audition-only choir and it is highly recommended that the interested student enrolls in Beginning Choir to be best prepared for the demands of this class. Chamber Choir is an A-G subject requirement class.
Advanced Women's Ensemble
The Advanced Women's Ensemble is a 20-40 member women's ensemble for advanced singers who have shown mastery of Beginning Choir curricula. It involves the rehearsal and performance of a wide repertoire of music ranging from traditional to contemporary. Students will learn standard vocal techniques, and further, develop sight-reading skills and rehearsal techniques as well as a more dramatic interpretation of song through the arts. Advanced Women's Ensemble is an A-G subject requirement class and requires a vocal audition for entrance.
Beginning Choir is a large, non-audition, mixed ensemble designed for developing singers with little or no vocal experience. The class involves the rehearsal and performance of a variety of repertoire, including traditional and contemporary selections. Students will learn standard vocal techniques, develop sight-reading skills (through the study of solfege), and learn basic music theory as it applies to choral performance. Beginning Choir is an A-G subject requirement class.
