GPA Calculations

This is the formula for calculating the GPA on the secondary transcripts or report card.  It is important to remember to recompute GPAs prior to running any query report for Honor Roll or awards.  You will need to select the correct marking period if you are calculating the GPA for report cards before you recompute the GPA.

Grade Mark GPA values include +/-:

A = 4.0

B = 3.0

C = 2.0

D = 1.0

F = 0.0

Multiply the gpa value and the credits completed for each class to get the gpa credit.

Example:                    Mark:             GPA Value:   Credits Attempted:   GPA Credit:

English 3                     B-                    3.0       X         5.0       =                      15

Child Dev                   C+                   2.0       X         5.0       =                      10

U.S. History                B+                   3.0       X         2.5       =                      7.5

U.S. History                A-                    4.0       X         5.0       =                      20

Geometry                    C                     2.0       X         5.0       =                      10

Drivers Ed                  A                     4.0       X         2.5       =                      10

Art                               C+                   2.0       X         5.0       =                      10

Total                                                                           30                                82.5

Divide the total GPA credit by the total credits attempted to get the GPA.

82.5 / 30 = 2.75
